Commander's Annual Inspection at SLAF Station Colombo

Having concluded the inspection at Air Force Headquarters on the 20th of November 2017 the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy commenced the Annual Commander’s Inspection of SLAF Station Colombo today (21 November 2017).
The Commander was welcomed by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo, Air Commodore Waruna Gunawardana. A Street Lining was accorded to the Commander at the Station premises.
Commander visited all areas of the station and unveiled the newly constructed Score Board at the Riffle Green Ground. After concluding the inspection the Commander took a seat at the Airmens’ Mess with a cross section of Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and Civilian Staff for the customary all ranks lunch. This was followed by the Commanders’ address at which he appreciated the commendable work done by all personnel at AFHQ and Station Colombo in maintaining high standards and stated that he had been able to accomplish all that he had set out to achieve at the previous AOCs inspection and that he intended to do his best to take the Air Force further towards higher standards. He appreciated the efforts of everyone present towards achieving that high standards that he had witnessed in all areas during his inspection of Air Force Headquarters and Air Force Station Colombo.
The Commander then departed to the OMQ Complex Kollupitiya, Air Force Health Management Centre and AFHQ Officers’ Mess Colombo.
The Commander also made a surprise visit to the SLAF Detachment at Battaramulla where he visited and reviewed the progress of the Defence Headquarters Project at Akuregoda. The Commander also spoke with SLAF personnel attached to the site regarding future plans for the project.
