Regiment Wing SLAF Base Katunayake emerged the Men’s and Women’s Champions at the Inter Unit Taekwondo 2017 conducted at SLAF Base Katunayake on 29 December 2017. This tournament in the first Taekwondo Inter Unit Championship conducted in the history of the SLAF.

SLAF Trade Training School (TTS) Ekala emerged the runners up in the Men's category and SLAF Station BIA emerged the runners up in the Women's category.

The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Chairman SLAF Taekwondo, Air Commodore MRK Samarasinghe, Officers and Other Ranks were also present to witness the event.
