Press Briefing on 67th Anniversary Celebration of the SLAF and Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2018

The press briefing of the "67th Air Force Day Exposition and Tattoo - 2018" and “19th Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2018 ” was held at the Air Force Headquarters, Colombo this morning (22nd February 2018).
The Sri Lanka Air Force will be celebrating its 67th Anniversary on 2nd March 2018. In upholding its tradition of rich history, the "AIR FORCE DAY" is the premier event in its calendar. This year, the event will be celebrated with great pomp and pageantry with a special exposition and Tattoo at SLAF Station Ampara. The Tattoo will be held from 3rd to 5th March 2018, and will showcase stalls from various units and formations of the Air Force coupled with a Kiddies Play area and food stalls.
The line-up of events for each day will include a Fly Past, Aerobatic Displays, a Parachute Display, a Display by Regimental Special Forces, and Air Dog Show, a Band and Drill Display, a Cultural Show and a Musical Extravaganza. The day's proceedings will start at 2.00 pm and conclude at 11.00 pm and entrance will be Free of Charge.
“Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya -2018 ” will be conducted for the 19th consecutive year in concurrence with the 67th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force. This race is ranked at National level and conducted under the auspices of the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka. Over one hundred male and thirty female Sri Lankan ranking/other riders registered with the CFSL are expected to compete in this race.
The duration of the race will be 3 days. It will start on 02 March 2018 from Air Force Headquarters Colombo, passing each leg through Puttalam, Hingurakgoda, Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa and finish in front of Youth Centre in Ampara . It will cover a distance of 447.4 Km.
The final awards ceremony will be held at SLAF Station Ampara at 1800 Hrs on 04 March 2018 where the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathi will grace the occasion with the sponsors and other distinguished guests.
