“Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2018” was held for the 19th consecutive year, coinciding with the 67th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The men’s race was held on 2nd 3rd and 4th March 2018 in 3 stages. Cyclists from all around the country as well as from other countries participated in this race covering a total distance of 458.6 km. Madushanka Fernando of the SLAF won the overall championship while the team event was also won by Sri Lanka Air Force Cycle Team.

The women’s race held on 04th March 2018 from Batticaloa to Ampara was won by Shyamali of the Civil Security Department (CSD) while Niroshani Perera (SLAF) and Sandya Kumari (CSD) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. The women’s team event was won by the Sri Lanka Air Force Women’s Cycling Team.

The presentation ceremony was held at SLAF Station Ampara and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, Members of the Air Force Board of Management as well as Senior Officers of the SLAF, Officers and other ranks from Station Ampara representatives from the media sponsor Sirasa TV and co-sponsors LG Abans were also present at the award ceremony.
