Special Screening/Awareness Programme On STI/HIV At SLAF Station Colombo

According to the statistics of the national STD/AIDS control programme there has been an increase in AIDS patient in Sri Lanka.

 SLAF Hospital Colombo organized a screening and awareness lecture on “HIV/STI Protection for SLAF” for service personal at SLAF Station and AFHQ Colombo with the participation of over 150 personal representing all sections of the station, on 05th April 2018. The address was delivered by Dr. Chandrika Jayakodi (MD, MRCP) Consultant Venereologist and Dr. Piumi Perera (Senior Register National STD/AIDS Control Programme). The objectives of the programme were to educate Air Force personnel on prevention of sexually transmitted infections (including HIV) and educate on provisions of care and support for those infected and affected with STI/HIV

The screening test for HIV was performed on over 200 Air Force personal at SLAF Station and AFHQ Colombo. The programme was coordinated by Gp Capt Dr. PAV Padmaperuma and Medical Staff of the Hospital SLAF Colombo.
