The newly established drinking water system at Sri Abinawaramaya temple Weerawila was declared open by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Weerawila, Group Captain DRAB Warakanga on 17th June 2018.
 
The project was carried out under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy for the benefit of the temple and general public of the area. The water supply to this system has been provided from the Water Purification Unit located within the Station.
