The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy promoted Leading Aircraftwoman Gomas BDH to the rank of Corporal in recognition of her medal winning performance in the 48 Kg class Weightlifting event at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia. Further, a cash award was also presented to her at a simple ceremony held at Air Force Headquarters.

Dinusha Hansani Gomas is a proud product of Wadduwa Girls School and St. Mary's College, Wadduwa who joined the SLAF in the year 2012.  She has bagged a Silver medal at the 12th South Asian Championship 2016 in India, Bronze medals at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship 2016 in Malaysia and the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship 2017 in Australia.

The Commander congratulated her on the hard work and dedication that lead to her success from humble beginnings .The Chairman of SLAF Weightlifting, Air Commodore Janaka Amarasinghe, Director Sports, Air Commodore IK Weeraratne, Secretary of the Air Force Sports Council Group Captain Padman De Costa and other officials of SLAF Weightlifting and AFSC were present for this occasion.
