Reforestation Campaign in Mannar
In line with the initiatives made by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, the SLAF Regiment Training School Vanni launched a Reforestation Campaign targeting approximately 2500 saplings at Kayakkuli, Silawathurai Mannar on 21 June 2018.
The SLAF took the lead role in launching the Reforestation Campaign in a few selected forests around the island as a pilot project with the dawn of 2018. This project was one of the three main localities identified in the Island and it covers an approximate area of five (05) Hectares in Silawathurai. SLAF Regiment Training School Vanni undertook the project in collaboration with Range Forest Office of Mannar.
The inaugural planting of a sapling was done under the patronage of Commanding Officer SLAF Regiment Training School Vanni, Air Commodore Athula Kaluarachchi whilst Regional Forest Officer Mannar, Mr. Raveendra, Officers and Other Ranks were also present for the event.
