The Badge Awarding Ceremony at 155th Air Scout Troop - Negombo

The Membership badges for 41 newly enlisted Air Scouts, 18 Promotion Badges and 03 Group Scout Master Awards for Air Scouts were awarded on 08th August 2018 at “Astra Hall”, Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake.
Officer Commanding Personnel Service Air Force Base Katunayake, Group Captain Manoj Keppetipola attended as the Chief Guest for the ceremony. Mr. Elmo Rowell former District Scout Commissioner in Negombo District and Mr. Rohith Stainwall Air Scout Group Leader in Colombo also witnessed the occasion. Principals and teachers from Davisamara College Seeduwa and St. Josephs College Negombo were also present as other invitees and Air Force Officers, other scout officials and parents of the scout participated in the ceremony.
Chief Guest, Group Captain Manoj Keppetipola addressed the ceremony recalling his Scout Life and how he achieved the ‘President’s Award’ in 1986. He further stated that, Air Scouts must always be ready for any next event through the Motto of Scouting “Be Prepared”.
Mr. Elmo Rowell the former District Scout Commissioner in Negombo District also delivered his speech by emphasizing “Scouting must not an obstacle to school education but instead a grooming tool leading to the success of higher education”.
After the badge investiture, the strength of the Air Scout troop of SLAF Base Katunayake increased up to 86 Air Scouts. The Ceremony was organized by Chairman of the Parents Committee Sqn Ldr Merinas Perera, Air Scout Leaders and Parents of the scouts.
