Black Eagles Sink Top Floor Eagles to clinch the First Ever CPL T-10 Cricket Title

The Colombo Premier League -2018 (CPL T-10) Cricket Tournament, the first of its kind in the history of the Sri Lanka Air Force, was organized by the SLAF Station Colombo from 27 August to 03 September 2018.
A total of 32 teams contested the title at the Riffle Green Grounds, Colombo, and 4 teams qualified for the Semi Finals which was held on 30 August 2018. The Top Floor Eagles (Team from Air Secretariat) went up against the Dilena Tharu (Team from AF Detachment Battaramulla) while the Black Eagles (Team from No 45 VIP Wing) went up against the Base Super Kings (Team from the Station HQ of Colombo). Out of these 4 teams the Top Floor Eagles and the Black Eagles made it to the finals.
The grand finale of the CPL T-10 was held under lights at the Rifle Green Grounds last night (3 September 2018) with the participation of Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy. Former Sri Lankan Cricket Captain and a gentleman who has the distinction of changing world cricket, “Master Blaster” Sanath Jayasuriya, also graced the occasion as a surprise Honorary Guest. Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Air Force officers and a large gathering of other ranks were also presented at the venue to cheer on the teams and to witness this grand finale.
Winning the toss, the Top Floor Eagles decided to bat first and scored 111 runs with Squadron Leader CJEN Dalpadadu top scoring with 38 runs. Chasing a target of 112 runs the Black Eagles reached their mark with 3 balls to spare. Leading Aircraftman Ranaweera top scored for the Black Eagles with 43 runs which included 5 sixes and 2 fours. Leading Aircraftman Ranaweera was also judged as the Man of the Series for his tremendous contribution for the victory of the Black Eagles.
