Commander Declares Open First Fully Automated Vehicle Washing Plant of the SLAF

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy declared open the first fully automated vehicle washing plant today ( 21 September 2018) at SLAF Guwanpura. The Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Officers and airmen were present to witness this occasion.

The washing Plant named “Autoequip – Fly25” is a state of the art fully automated washing plant which is capable of carrying out a full body and under shampoo wash of vehicles. Made in Italy this washing plant is also equipped with a water purification system which will purify all the water used for washing vehicles, thereby minimizing the hazardous effects on nature.

This concept was initialized during a higher level visit by the present Commander when he was the Director Air Operations of the SLAF in 2015. This washing plant will enable the MT Complex at Colombo to carryout auto washing of approximately 60 vehicles per day.
