SLAF Base Vavuniya Celebrates its 40 Years of Service to the Nation

Sri Lanka Air Force Base Vavuniya celebrated its 40th anniversary yesterday (27 October 2018).
The base day celebrations began with a Parade followed by the address by the Base Commander, Group Captain LH Sumanaweera.
Concurrently, following programmes were carried out prior to the Base day Celebrations
• Bana Programme on the 24th of October 2018
• CSR Programme at V/Kudakachchikudiya Vidyalaya on the 25th of October 2018
• Religious Ceremony on the 26th of October 2018
The CSR Programme included a Medical Clinic, Dental Clinic (for school children, teachers and parents) and a Shramadana Campaign conducted at the V/Kudakachchikudiya Vidyalaya, Vavuniya. During the period, the school buildings, toilets, surroundings and the play area were renovated and repainted. Also, necessary school supplies (School bags, Books, Shoes and New Uniforms) were donated to the school and to the students. The services of a mobile salon and tailor were given free of charge for the students and the teachers in the school.
A social was arranged for all personnel of the Base. Volleyball, Netball and Badminton Tournaments were also played to commemorate the Base day.
