The Japan- Sri Lanka Friendship Association donated a Sky Ladder Fire Vehicle equipped with a 42 Meter ladder to the Sri Lanka Air Force at a ceremony held at Air Force Headquarters this morning (12 November 2018). The delegation led by Dr (Mrs). Eranga Thilakaratne and Mr. Yoshioka Chutaro ceremonially handed over the vehicles to the Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias who represented the Commander of the Air Force.

In addition, two scholarships were awarded to Dilshan Madushanka and Chanchala Abeysinghe of Gangulpitiya Vidyalaya, Ratnapura. The two children who received the Scholarships had scored the highest in their school at the Grade 5 Scholarship Exam. The delegation also handed over 300 pairs of Spectacles and the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Anoma Jayampathy accepted the donations on behalf of the Seva Vanitha Unit.

A special cultural programme was held at the AFHQ auditorium in appreciation of the donations, with the objective of making the day a memorable one for the Japanese delegation.

Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Officers and others ranks also witnessed the event.
