The No 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron celebrated its 23rd Anniversary Yesterday. To mark the event a working parade was held at the squadron parade ground and it was reviewed by Wing Commander KMSPB Kulathunga, the Commanding officer. Floral tributes were offered at the Squadron Monument, as a tribute to the war heroes who sacrificed their lives while serving at the squadron. This was followed by an All Ranks Breakfast and an Elle Tournament.

No. 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron which was inaugurated under the Command of Group Captain WLMJP Rodrigo made enormous contribution towards liberating our motherland from the clutches of vicious terrorism from its inception. The No. 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron is equipped with Russian built MI-24 Hind Helicopters and MI 17 Helicopters. These were deployed by the SLAF to provide air support to the Sri Lanka Army and Navy in many military operations and disaster relief operations.
