The newly renovated Gymnasium at the General Service Quarters Complex, Guwanpura was declared open by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy this morning (8 January 2019). The Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo, Air Commodore GGWTK Gunawardana, Officers and Other Rankers were present for the opening ceremony.

The requirement of a Gymnasium for Guwanpura was put forward to the Commander by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo during last year’s Commander’s Inspection. With the consent of the Commander the renovation was done within a very short period of time. This Gymnasium will benefit the large number of Officers and Other Rankers residing at Guwanpura.
