The 20th consecutive “Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya” was concluded yesterday (3 March 2019) at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Hingurakgoda. The Men’s Race was held from 1st to 3rd March 2019 in 3 stages while the Women’s Race was held yesterday from Dambulla to Polonnaruwa covering a distance of 65 km. Cyclists from all around the country as well as from other countries participated in this race covering a total distance of 414 km for the men.

Corporal Budhdhika Warnakulasooriya of the SLAF won the overall championship while Leading Aircraftwoman Panchali Sulochana of the SLAF emerged as Overall Women's Champion. Adding to the tally of wins by the SLAF, both Men’s and Women’s Teams were able to secure the Team Championships as well.

The presentation ceremony was held at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda with the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy gracing the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, the Vice Chancellor of the Kotelawala Defence University and the Chairman of SLAF Cycling, Air Vice Marshal Sagara Kotakadeniya, Secretary of SLAF Cycling, Air Commodore Kithsiri Leelaratne, Members of the Air Force Board of Management as well as Senior Officers of the SLAF, Officers and other ranks representatives from the media sponsor and co-sponsors were also present at the award ceremony.
