A Grand Reception to mark the 68th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force was held at the Air Force Museum Main Hangar yesterday.  A distinguished gathering made up of past Commanders of the Air Force, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Air Force Officers both retired and serving, senior Warrant Officers, senior Non-Commissioned Officers and their families, mingled and reminisced as as they moved among historical aircraft chronicling the Air Forces 68 years of history.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Hemasiri Fernando graced the occasion at the Chief Guest and was received by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy. The Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne and Mrs. Wijegunaratne, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake and Mrs. Senanayake, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva were among the distinguished guests who join the SLAF in celebrating 68 years of Service to the Nation.

After an impressive drill display by the SLAF Colour Squadron, the distinguished invitees that included past commander of the Air Force, cut the traditional birthday cake to kick off the reception.
