The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, conferred Vishishta Sewa Vibushanaya (VSV) medals on 65 Senior serving and retired Officers of the Tri Services at a colourful ceremony held at the President Secretariat today (22 May 2019). 

13 Senior Officers of SLAF received the Vishishta Sewa Vibushanaya at today. The Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Mohan De Zoysa were among the serving officers who were conferred with the Vishishta Sewa Vibushanaya today. The names of serving and retired SLAF Senior Officers who were conferred with the Vishishta Sewa Vibushanaya are listed below. The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy and the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Anoma Jayampathy also attended the ceremony.

The VSV is conferred to Senior Officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka provided they count not less than 25 years of service and possess an unblemished record of moral and military conduct. Recipient of the decoration will be entitled to use the symbol ‘VSV’ after his or her name.
