Passing Out Parade at SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa

The Passing out Parade of No.64 Intake Officer Cadets Basic Ground Combat Course, No.16 Intake Lady Officer Cadets Basic Ground Combat Course, No. 168 Regular Airmen Recruit Course, No.38 Regular Airwomen Recruit Course, No. 131 Volunteer Airmen Recruit Course and No.14 Volunteer Airwomen Recruit Course was held at Sri Lanka Air Force Combat Training School Diyatalawa this morning (14th June 2019). The parade was commanded by Wing Commander Buddhika Bandara, the Officer Commanding Training of the Combat Training School.
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Commanding Officer of the SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa, Air Commodore Peterson Fernando, Senior Officers and a large number of invitees from the SL Army, SL Navy and SL Police were also present at the occasion.
A total of 39 Officer Cadets from the No 64th Intake of Officer Cadets and No 16th Lady Officer Cadets Intake along with 426 Airmen and Airwomen passed out from the SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa today. The Commander addressed the new entrants during the parade and congratulated them on successfully completing the Basic Ground Combat Training. He also emphasised that even if the unfortunate events of 21st April had diverted the efforts of the Air Force in a different direction, the Air Force has to always be ready to live up to the title of “ Guardians of the Skies”. The Commander also reminded that the Air Force has a pivotal role in the nation’s war on drugs. He reminded the new entrants to always remember that they are now part of an illustrious and battle hardened Air Force and that they have a responsibility to always maintain a very high level of integrity and discipline.
The passing out parade was followed by a colourful band display performed by the Air Force Band. A Drill display, Gymnastic and Unarm combat display were performed by the passed out trainees, which was witnessed by the parents of the trainees’ and well-wishers of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
