Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Association Donates a Fire Engine and a Fire Car to the SLAF

The Japan - Sri Lanka Friendship Association donated a Fire Engine and a Fire Car to Sri Lanka at the President’s Official Residence, this morning (1 July 2019).
The vehicles were symbolically handed over to His Excellency the President, Maithripala Sirisena after which subsequently the President handed it over to the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias.
Subsequently the Fire Engine and Fire Car were handed over to the SLAF at a ceremony held at Air Force Headquarters. The delegation led by Dr (Mrs). Eranga Thilakaratne and Mr. Kato Koji the President of the Seki Rotary Club ceremonially handed over the vehicles. The Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana accepted the two vehicles on behalf of the Commander of the Air Force.
In addition, three (3) scholarships were awarded to Nipuni Dilhara Karunaratne of St. Anthony’s Girls College, Kandy, Dassana Tahathsara of St. Aloysius College, Galle and Sankalpa Rathnayake of Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa. The delegation also donated 200 pairs of Spectacles and these were also accepted by the Chief of Staff along with the Secretary of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Wing Commander Chamini Gamage.
A special cultural programme was held at the AFHQ auditorium in appreciation of the donations, with the objective of making the day a memorable one for the Japanese delegation.
Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Officers and others ranks also witnessed the event.
