Annual 'Pirith Chanting' Ceremony of the SLAF

The Annual all-night ‘Pirith Chanting’ Ceremony to commemorate personnel of the SLAF who made the supreme sacrifice or, are missing in action during active service and to invoke blessings on their souls, was held yesterday evening (12 July 2019) followed by an almsgiving for 100 Venerable Maha Sangha today (13 July 2019) at the SLAF Trade Training School, Ekala.
The ‘Reliquary’ (Karaduwa) was taken to the Trade Training School Ekala in a colourful procession and placed in the ‘Pirith Mandapa’ by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias.
Subsequently, an almsgiving was accorded to the Venerable Maha Sangha with the participation of the Supreme Mahanayaka of the Amarapura Nikaya, Aggra Maha Panditha Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thera.
Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, members of the Air Force Board of Management, senior officers, other ranks, spouses and children of SLAF war heroes, civilian staff and families also participated for the All Night Pirith Chanting Ceremony as well as for the Almsgiving.
