Change of Command at SLAF Base Anuradhapura
Air Commodore RP Liyanagamage, WWV, RWP, USP, MSc (Strat Stu-Pak), MDS, fawc (Pak), psc took over duties as the Base Commander of SLAF Base Anuradhapura on 16th August 2019.
Air Commodore Liyanagamage previously held the appointment of Defence Attaché to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia. He is a decorated and veteran helicopter pilot with experience on Mi 17, Bell 206 Jet Ranger, Bell 212 and Bell 412.
The Change of Command Parade of Sri Lanka Air Force Base SLAF Base Anuradhapura was held on the 16th of August 2019.
The outgoing Base Commander, Air Commodore H N Abeysinghe, USP, MA (SSS-USA), ndu (USA), MDS, ctf-ndu, psc, took over command of SLAF Base Anuradhapura on 10th January 2017 and will be proceeding to Air Force Headquarters to take over the appointment of Deputy Director Ground Operations of the SLAF subsequently.
The Handing Over/Taking Over Parade took place at the at the Base Parade Square and was commanded by Wing Commander WWNTP Fernando.
The Outgoing Base Commander addressed the parade and all personnel of the Base and thanked them for the support they had extended during his tenure as the Base Commander.
