Change of Command at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda

The outgoing Base Commander of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Air Commodore V B Edirisinghe WWV, RWP, RSP and three Bars, psc, qhi handed over duties to Group Captain N H D N Dias WWV and Bar, RSP and Bar, USP, MDS, Pg Dip (IR), psc, qhi., at the traditional Change of Command Parade yesterday, (19 Aug 2019)
Air Commodore Edirisinghe took over command of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda on 3rd January 2017 and will be proceeding to the National Defence University of China for training.
The New Base Commander of Hingurakgoda, Group Captain Dias previously held the appointment of Directing Staff at the Air Wing of the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Sapugasthanna. He is a decorated and veteran helicopter pilot with experience in Mi 24, MI 17, Bell 206 Jet Ranger, Bell 212 and Bell 412.
The ceremonial Handing Over/Taking Over Parade took place at the at the Base Parade Square of Hingurakgoda and was commanded by Wing Commander PS Liyanarachchi.
The Outgoing Base Commander addressed the parade and all personnel of the Base and thanked them for the support they had extended during his tenures as the Base Commander.
