Aviation Contingent in the Central African Republic Conducts Civil-Military Co-operation Programmes

The 4th SLAF Aviation Contingent in MINUSCA carried out four (4) major Civil-Military Co-operation (CIMIC) activities and several drug donation programmes during the last month in order to support the local people and to bring pleasant childhood memories to the children who are victims of conflicts in several villages situated around Bria, Central African Republic.

This has benefited more than 1000 boys and girls of ages under 8 years. The Aviation Contingent distributed more than 1000 Clothes and toys including footballs. In addition stationery items were distributed among 300 school children which were donated by Officers and Airmen in the contingent. In addition, all contingent members offered one-day worth of rations in order to prepare more than 2000 nutritious food packs which were distributed to locals during each of these programmes.

Several drug donation campaigns were also conducted in parallel to the CIMIC activities in the Local Hospital in Bria. Those donations included emergency lifesaving drugs, antibiotics, analgesics and several other drugs.

These activities were organized successfully under the guidance of SLAF Aviation Contingent Commander, Wing Commander Rasanga De Zoysa and with the consultation of the CIMIC Officer, Major Doaa Ali Esmail (Egyptian Army) for Sector East UN HQ. Immense support and heartfelt dedication of all the contingent members contributed in making these events a success.
