Newly Constructed Hangar of No 8 Squadron Declared Open

The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Sumangala Dias declared the newly constructed hangar of No 8 Squadron today ( 04 October 2019) at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Ratmalana.

Construction work of this hangar started at the beginning of this year with the relinquishment of the facilities and areas occupied by SLAF within Ratmalana airport. The Squadron was temporally shifted to SLAF Base Katunayake and will be re located during in the new hangar. The new hangar is capable of accommodating all aircraft in the squadron inventory.

The Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Director Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Ravi Jayasinghe, members of Air Force Board of Management and other senior officials attended the open ceremony.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
