A Training Programme on VVIP/VIP Service Function Handling was conducted at the Hospitality Management School of SLAF Station Sigiriya under the directives of the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Sumangala Dias and on the supervision of Director Logistics and Director Training of Sri Lanka Air Force. This training programme conducted in three sessions on six days was as an expansion of on-going Trade Training Programmes conducted for the Ground Stewards and Catering Assistants. It was designed to enable tradesmen to enhance the capacity of handling VVIP/VIP service functions in the SLAF. Three officers (03) and Forty-Six (46) Servicemen (22 Ground Stewards & 24 Catering Assistants) followed the course which concluded on 08 Oct 2019.
 
Trainees participated in different types of menu preparation practical sessions including Western, Indian, Thai, Functional food items & snacks. Further, the trainees were provided with food serving practicals, Theme Dinner/Lunch practicals, Wine & Liquor service, Preparation of innovative cocktails and Functions Arrangements. The trade knowledge and the practical skills of the trainees were uplifted through expertise shared by the professionals serving in the Hotel Tropical Life, Aliya Resort, Heritance Kandalama, Habarana Village by Cinnamon and Sigiriya Village.  
    
The trainees were able to demonstrate their progress in mastering the handling of VVIP/VIP service functions in practice VVIP/VIP service functions conducted for all three sessions. The events were witnessed by the Commanding Officer Wing Commander Chinthaka Alwis, Representatives of Hotel Industry who contributed for the practical sessions and all Officers of the Station. The trainees departed the HMS after successful completion of the course will definitely contribute for the success of SLAF VVIP/VIP service functions handling in the future.
