Silver Medal Winner Corporal Liyanarachchi and Air Force Athletes Return Home from 'CISM World Games - 2019'

Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) athletes who represented the Sri Lankan Defence Services Team at the 7th CISM World Military Games held in Wuhan, China returned to the island yesterday ( 29th October 2019) . They were welcomed by Air Force officials and their relatives at the Bandaranayake International Airport.
The Military World Games is a multi-sport event for military sports personnel, organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM) which is conducted every four years. The Games have been held since 1995. This year, 9574 athletes from 109 counties participated in the 7th edition of the "World CISM Games". Further, it is significant to note that 80% of athletes who participated at these games are National players.
SLAF Woman athlete, Corporal Nimali Liyanarachchi brought glory to her motherland by winning the Silver Medal in Women's 800 metres. Leading athletes from countries such as Ukraine, Bahrain, Barbados, Kenya, Romania and United States participated in the final of this event.
