SLAF Beats Army at Defence Services Cricket

The Sri Lanka Air Force Men's cricket team defeated the Army by 32 runs at Welisara last evening (24th August 2010).

The Airmen batting first put up a competitive total of 242 runs for nine wickets in their 50 overs. Janaka Perera and Indika De Seram top scored for the Air Force scoring 57 runs and 45 runs respectively. The Army bowler’s, Nuwantha Rathnayaka, Janaka Perera and Damith Balasuriya bagged two wickets each.

In return, the Army team was bowled out for 210 runs ionspite of half centuries from Manjula De Soyza’s (53 ) and Indika Karunaratna’s (51 ).  Indika De Seram 5 for 47 to seal the victory whilst Akila Isanka bagged 02 wickets.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
