Conferment of 'Sewabhimani Padakkama' and 'Sewa Padakkama'

The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, conferred two new Presidential Medals, ‘Sewabhimani Padakkama’ (Meritorious Service Medal) and ‘Sewa Padakkama’(Service Medal) at a colourful ceremony held today (08 November 2019) at the new Army Headquarters in Akuregoda.
The President awarded the two new Presidential Medals to the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias along with the State Minister of Defence, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Commander of the Army and Commander of the Navy.
Medals were also symbolically awarded to an Officer, the Command Master Warrant Officer, an Airman and an Airwoman by His Excellency the President at the ceremony.
Those who have served more than six years after the 19th of May 2009 in the performance of post-war development roles uninterruptedly will be eligible to receive these Medals. During the event, representative groups from the Tri-Services and Police and Civil Staff of the Armed Forces received these Medals from the President.
