SLAF Hospital Ratmalana celebrates 10th Anniversary

Sri Lanka Air Force Hospital Ratmalana celebrated its 10th Anniversary today (11 November 2019).
The official celebrations commenced with a Working Parade which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain TSS Alwis.
In anticipation of the anniversary, a Well Woman’s Clinic was organized on the 6th of November 2019 with participation from the National Cancer Detection Center, MOH Office Dehiwala HIV/AIDS Control program and the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila. This program was initiated for early detection of precancerous lesions of most common cancer among Sri Lankan women and also to uplift the gynecological health standards in serving ladies and families of serving people. There were around 150 participants for the clinic and 38 cases were detected and directed for further treatment. There were valuable lectures for the participating crowd on child care, sexually transmitting diseases, HPV vaccine, self breast examination to detect lumps, nutrition, psychological issues in family relationships.

The program was carried out under the supervision of Air Vice Marshal LR Jayaweera, Director Health Services, Air Commodore RS Wickramaratne, Base Commander SLAF Base Ratmalana, Group Captain TVSS Alwis, Commanding Officer and staff of the SLAF Hospital Ratmalana, Director National Cancer Detection Center, Director HIV/AIDS Control Program, Medical Officer of Health, Dehiwala, Dr Sisira Costa, Consultant Resident VOG of the SLAF, Dr. Dammika Silva and Consultant VOG, Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila, Dr. Ruwanthi Perera.
