No 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron Celebrates 24th Anniversary

The No 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron celebrated its 24th anniversary yesterday (24th November 2019). To mark the event a Working Parade was held at the Squadron Premises and was reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander DL Hewavitharana. Floral tributes were offered at the Squadron War Heroes’ Monument as a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives while serving at the squadron. This was followed by an All Ranks Breakfast and an Elle tournament.

Religious activities related to the anniversary celebration commenced on 7th November 2019 at Al Jumma Muslim Mosque, Hingurakgoda. On 8th November 2019 a Catholic Religious Activity was carried out at Kings Church Hingurakgoda and on the same day evening a Pirith Chanting Ceremony was carried out at the No 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron hangar premises. The event was concluded on next day with an alms giving for 25 monks with the participation of Next of Kin of those who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. On 21st November 2019, dry rations were donated for 45 kidney patients who are in the final stages of their lives at Medirigiriya General Hospital as a charity program.
