Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay secured the Environment Committee Award 2019 for the Organization that has made a significant contribution for the sustainable management of environment in organizations/institutions category (Public/Private/NGO Sector) at the inauguration ceremony of Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) 75th Annual Session held at the University of Colombo on the 08th of December 2019.
 
The Environment Committee Awards is organized by the SLAAS with a view to recognize organizations/institutions that have demonstrated environmental friendly attitudes and who have made significant efforts towards environmental protection measures through the management of solid waste. For the first time SLAF Academy China Bay received this award after the establishment of the SLAF environment protection policy.

The Commandant of the SLAF Academy, Air Commodore RAUP Rajapaksa accepted the award from the Chief Guest while the Command Quality Assurance Officer, Air Commodore LMSK Leelaratne, Staff Officer, Wing Commander MJI Wijeyanath and Officer Commanding Station Services of the Academy, Squadron Leader RDW Jayasooriya also participated for the awards ceremony.
