Army Disaster Management Course Concludes at Mullaitivu

A three day training programme for the trainees of the SL Army Disaster Management Course was held at the Disaster Management Training School, Sri Lanka Air Force Station, Mullaitivu from 7th to 12th December 2019.

This is the first time Army trainees participated in an Air Force Disaster Management Training and the three day training progamme focused on Introduction to Air Force, SLAF’s Role and task during disaster situations, Functions of Air Force Disaster Management Training Centre, capabilities and limitation of the SLAF, Helipad selection and Heli marshaling, Airdropping, working with Helicopters, SAR with helicopters in disaster situations, SLAF communication systems, rescuing aircrew and passenger during a crash and aircraft firefighting. 5 Army Officers and 28 Other Rankers participated for the three day training programme.

The Commanding Officer of Sri Lanka Air Force Station, Mullaitivu Group Captain AN Wijesiriwardena graced the closing address as the Chief Guest. The Acting Commanding Officer Disaster Management Training Centre, Squadron Leader BPUDB Rajapathirana, officers and other ranks of the Station were also present for the ceremony.
