Air Defence Gunnery Training School at Iranamadu Celebrates 8th Anniversary

Air Defence Gunnery Training School (ADGTS) at SLAF Station Iranamadu celebrated its 8th Anniversary yesterday (23 February 2020). The ADGTS was initially shifted to Iranamadu from SLAF Base Katunayake on 5 February 2012 and later on 23 February 2012 was established as an independent formation in SLAF.
On the day of the celebration a cricket tournament was organized by School under the guidance of the Commanding Officer Wing Commander MJ Ranaweera, Instructors and the staff of the School at the Station Sports Ground. The event was attended by the Acting Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Iranamadu, Wing Commander KGKN Wimalarathna.
Furthermore, the staff of the School conducted Community Service events as well. A “Shramadana” to resurface the roof of Christian Church at Ramanadapuram was conducted on 21 February 2020 with the aim of affiliating with the communities of the general area.

On 22 February 2020 a traditional “Pooja” was organized at Hindu Kovil at SLAF Station Iranamadu to invoke blessings for the future plans of School. Group Captain UPYR Pathirana the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Iranamadu also participated for the “Pooja”.
