SLAF Troops Together with the CMC Distribute Dry Rations to Low Income Families

A distribution program of dry ration packs for 50,000 low income families in Colombo area was initiated by the Colombo Municipal Council together with the Sri Lanka Air Force yesterday (31 March 2020). The SLAF was entrusted with the distribution of these ration packs to families which were identified by the Colombo Municipal Council.
The SLAF on a request made by the Governor of the Western Province, Marshal of the Sri Lanka Air Force Roshan Goonetileke and on the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias, deployed troops from the Directorate of Ground Operations at all the distribution points within Colombo.
The three day programme which commenced yesterday will continue till tomorrow as well, where the packs included items such as Rice10 kg, Sugar, Dhal, Flour, Tea, Green Gram, Tin Fish, Yahaposha and soap.
200 Air Force Troops along with 10 Officers from SLAF Bases Katunayake, Ratmalana and SLAF Trade Training School Ekala were deployed for this operation.
