With the present COVID-19 Pandemic Situation in the country, there is an increasing need for accommodation facilities for staff working at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases better known as IDH.

On the directives of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias, the Directorate of Civil Engineering has commenced construction on a Nurses Quarters Building. The building is planned to be a pre-fabricated structure consist with 16 rooms with attached bath rooms.

The foundation, tilled flooring and the finishing of this building will be completed by the SLAF while the pre-fabricated structure will be provided by Ports Authority and be erected by a private contractor hired by the Ports Authority.
