New Hospital for SLAF Base Hingurakgoda

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias declared open the newly constructed Hospital at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda today ( 30 May 2020).

This marked the fulfilment of a long-felt requirement at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda which was progressed to completion by the Base Commander, Group Captain Dhammika Dias.  The newly constructed spacious hospital will house a Medical Unit, Emergency Treatment Unit, Physiotherapy Unit, Medical Laboratory, X-Ray Unit, Pharmacy, Outdoor Patients Department with spacious accommodation facilities for all inward patients under one shelter.

An Engineering Team of 120 Airmen from the Civil Engineering Wing at SLAF Base Katunayake was deployed for this project.  Squadron Leader WPNM Weeerasinghe was the project engineer who performed his duties under the guidance from the Directorate of Civil Engineering.

The Director Civil Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Ruchira Samarasighe and the Director Health Services, Air Vice Marshal (Dr) Lalith Jayaweera, Base Commander of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Group Captain Dhammika Dias, Officers and Other Ranks were also present at the occasion.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
