SLAF Commences VIP Protection Training at Ampara

On the directives given by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias and under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of the Special Airborne Force Wing, Squadron Leader Bhanuka Bandara, the SLAF Special Airborne Force commenced VIP Protection Training for Personnel Security Officers (PSOs), Close Protection Duty personnel and SABF personnel on 25 August 2020 at Regimental Training Centre Ampara. Prior to this, VIP training for SLAF personnel had been followed at the STF Training Schools and this first course is the commencement of such a training program within the SLAF.
Accordingly, during the first stage a total numbers of 23 trainees including two Officers have been selected to undergo this training. The main focus of the training is to qualify personnel in VIP Protection Techniques and to improve their confidence while performing VIP/ VVIP security duties. During this course of training all trainees will learn the concepts such as VIP Security, Personal Security Officer Duties, Modern threats to VIP Working Formation, TST and Pillion Rider Duties and Motor Cade Formation.
