SLAF Utilize Female AF Police Ceremonial Riders for the First Time

Air Force Police Riders created history on 27 August 2020 when for the first time in the history of the SLAF, female AF Police Riders provided the ceremonial escort for Commander of the Air Force to participate for the Commander’s Inspection Guard of Honour.
On the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air marshal Sumangala Dias and under the guidance of the Acting Director Provost, Group Captain Padman Costa, these 11 female Riders have been training to be proud members of the AF Police Ceremonial Rider Team.
These female riders are posted to various SLAF establishments in the island and have had to make an enormous amount of sacrifice to come to the AF Police Rider Squadron located at SLAF Base Katunayake in order to follow a well-planned course of training which was spread over a period of 1 year.
