The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the No 29 Disaster Management First Response Course was held at the Main Auditorium of SLAF Trade Training School, Ekala on 7 September 2020.

The Commanding Officer of the SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, Air Commodore MPA Mahawatthage graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Commanding Officer of the Disaster Management Training School, Wing Commander SDDJ Ranasinghe, all Officers and Other Ranks of the Station were also present for the ceremony.

The Forty (40) Day training programme focused on Introduction of Disasters and Hazard Profiles, Disaster Management Council, act and role of the Disaster Management Centre, Overview of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Hazard and Vulnerability Assessment, Information technology related to disaster management & Geographic information system (GIS) Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE), Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) and international frame work of disaster management, Disasters Preparedness plans, conducting of awareness programmes, Civil Law pertaining to Emergency Response, Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), Contingency Plan (CP) and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), First Aid, Casualties and death management, Fire and Rescue. Thirty (30) Airmen, received their Certificates at the occasion. The training course was conducted at SLAF Station Mullaitivu under the guidance of the Station Commander, Group Captain AN Wijesiriwardane by the Disaster Management School.
