SLAF Conduct Drone Operations to Assist SL Police in Enforcing Traffic Lane Rule

The Traffic Lane Law which is being implemented to reduce the traffic congestion in Colombo and suburbs along with bus priority lanes was re-introduced from yesterday (14 September 2020) by the Sri Lanka Police.

The lane law which was temporarily suspended in the Western Province during the Coronavirus pandemic was re-enforced with the aim of educating the public for three days from yesterday until the 16th of September 2020. Police have decided to enforce traffic laws on the instructions of His Excellency the President, Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa as a solution to the heavy traffic congestion in Colombo.

The Sri Lanka Air Force Drones Operators conducted surveillance operations along the four main routes side by side with the educational program conducted by the Sri Lanka Police. The SLAF utilized four (4) drones to cover the entry routes in to the city of Colombo mainly from the Rajagiriya area, Nugegoda Area, Borella Area and the Galle Road. The main aim of these operations by the SLAF is to observe traffic congestions building up and to providing this information to the Police in order to manage the traffic situation more efficiently.
