The Commander reviewed the Commander’s Inspection Parade commanded by the Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Vice Marshal HSS Thuiyacontha and awarded Certificates of Commendation to a Master Warrant Officer, 5 Senior Non Commissioned Officers and 5 Junior Non Commissioned Officers during the parade for their meritorious contributions to the Base in particular and to the Air Force in general.

During the course of the inspection the Commander visited all area of the Base. The Commander also declared open the newly constructed Haemodialysis Unit and Retired Officers’ and Other Ranks’ Ward Complex at the SLAF Hospital at Katunayake. The Sri Lanka Navy also contributed to this project with the construction of a Water Treatment Plant which will be vital for the operation of the new Haemodialysis Unit of the SLAF. The Director General Health Services of the SL Navy, Surgeon Rear Admiral GSR Jayawardena also participated for the opening ceremony.

In conclusion the Commander addressed all personnel of the Base where he thanked all of them for their tireless effort in maintaining the largest Air Base of our country to exceptionally high standards.
