Today (30th September 2010) the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke  donated a newly built house with furniture and  house hold equipment  to the wife of Corporal Fernando HPND (22824), Mrs. MDD Kumari and her daughter, under the "Anula Fernando Housing Project" launched by Seva Vanitha Unit of  the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Corporal Fernando HPND was killed in action at SLAF Base Anuradhapura, during the terrorist attack  on 22 October 2007.

The house warming ceremony was held with the presence of the Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Nelun Goonetileke and the Commanding Officer SLAF Unit Sigiriya, Wing Commander Chaminda Silva at Naula Matale.

This house  which is worth more than one million rupees was constructed  under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of SLAF Sigiriya, Wing Commander Chaminda Silva and the project was funded  by the SLAF SVU
