27 SLAF OFFICERS GRADUATE FROM DEFENCE SERVICES COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE

The Graduation Ceremony of Course No. 14 of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) was held at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre yesterday (11 December 2020). Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne WWV, RWP, RSP, USP, ndu, psc, MPhil, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

A total of 149 Officers comprising of 81 Army, 23 Navy, 27 Air Force and 18 Foreign student Officers graduated on this occasion upon successful completion of the year- long course with the qualification of ‘Passed Staff College' as a post nominal.

Squadron Leader WRD Jayawardhana was adjudged the Most Outstanding Student Officer of the Air Wing as he secured the first place in the order of Merit and was awarded the "Golden Owl" Award. Further, for as he had the highest aggregate in the Air Wing, he was honoured with the "Commandant's Honours" Award as well. In addition, Wing Commander Asif Samadh Sheikh (Pakistan Air Force) was also honoured as the Most Outstanding Foreign Student Officer of the Air Wing and was awarded the "Golden Owl" Award.

The Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Members of the Board of Management of the DSCSC and Senior Officers from the Tri Forces were also present to witness this occasion.
