CHIEF OF STAFF RETIRES AFTER MORE THAN 35 YEARS OF DEDICATED AND DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE NATION

Air Vice Marshal PDKT Jayasinghe RWP, RSP (2bars), VSV, USP, LLB, MSc (War Stu & Def Mgt-Pak) MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MoSS (Ban), aowc, MIM (SL), ndc the Chief of Staff of the SLAF bid adieu to the Air Force today (09 March 2021) after completing more than 35 years of dedicated and distinguished service to the nation.
Air Vice Marshal Ravi Jayasinghe as he is fondly known made an official farewell call on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana at his office. The Commander commended Air Vice Marshal Jayasinghe for the dedicated and distinguished service rendered to the Nation and the Sri Lanka Air Force in particular and wished him all success for all future endeavors. The Commander and Air Vice Marshal Jayasinghe exchanged mementos to mark the occasion. After which, the outgoing Chief of Staff was accorded a Ceremonial Guard of Honour by the SLAF Colour Wing at Air Force Headquarters.
Air Vice Marshal Jayasinghe joined the Sri Lanka Air Force on 02 July 1985 and was commissioned in the General Duties Pilot Branch on the 02 January 1987. He is a VVIP rated pilot with 6500 flying hours from both Fixed Wing and Rotor Wing aircraft streams to his credit. For his valor during operational missions, he has been decorated with Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) once and Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) on three occasions. Further, he was awarded the Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya and the Utthama Seva Padakkama for his unblemished and distinguished service. He has held many key appointments and a few among them are Commanding Officer Air Defence Command and Control Centre and subsequently the Overall Operations Commander - Air Defence of SLAF. He has commanded four Air Bases of the SLAF and thereafter held the appointments of Director Training, Director Administration, Director Air Operations and Chief of Staff.
As an academic, Air Vice Marshal Jayasinghe completed his first Master’s Degree (Defence Studies) in Management with a “Merit Pass” from the Kotelawala Defence University. He also followed the Armed Forces War Course at the prestigious National Defence University in Pakistan and graduated with a M Sc (War Studies & Defence Management). He followed the National Defence Course at the National Defence College Bangladesh and graduated with a Master of Security Studies (MoSS). He also successfully completed a 4-year LLB degree at the Open University Colombo and was awarded the Bachelor of Laws Degree.
