The change of command at SLAF Station Ampara was held today (23 April 2021). The traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade was conducted at the Station Parade Square where the outgoing Commanding Officer, Air Commodore DCI weerasooriya USP, isc, psc handed over command to Air Commodore GGWTK Gunawardana RSP, USP, MDS, MIExpE, psc.

Air Commodore DCI weerasooriya USP, isc, psc took over command of SLAF Station Ampara on 10 December 2020 and he will be proceeding to SLAF Station Palaly to take over the appointment of Commanding Officer.

The new Commanding Officer, Air Commodore Gunawardana held the appointment of Senior Directing Staff at the National Defence College before being appointed to command SLAF Station Ampara.
