SLAF BASE HINGURAKGODA AND SLAF STATION COLOMBO WINS MEN’S AND WOMEN’S INTER UNIT POWERLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIP 2021

The Inter Unit Powerlifting Championship 2021 was held at SLAF Trade Training School Ekala from 22 to 23 April 2021. This year over 70 participants competed in both male and female categories and several SLAF records were met during the championship.
The final session and Awards Ceremony was held yesterday (23 April 2021) at the Main Auditorium of the Trade Training School. The Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Leonard Rodrigo graced the Finals and the Awards Ceremony as the Chief Guest. Members of the Air Force Sports Council and other invitees participated to witness the final session.
The event was conducted under 8 weight classes for Men and 7 weight classes for the women. The overall Women’s Team Championship was secured by SLAF Station Colombo, while SLAF Base Hingurakgoda became Runners Up. SLAF Base Hingurakgoda emerged as the champions in the Men’s category. The scores for the second place in the Men’s category was a tie resulting in both SLAF Station Colombo and SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa emerging as Runner Ups.
