03rd Formation Day Celebrated by SLAF Station Palavi

Sri Lanka Air Force Station Palavi celebrated its 03rd Formation Day on 01st  November 2010.

Established by the RAF and Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy during  World War II, the airfield at Palavi is situated close to the city of Puttalam in the Western Province .The present SLAF Station was established in 2000 to reactivate the airfield and establishment of No 05 Air Defence Radar Squadron.

The Formation Day celebrations began with a Working Parade held at the Station premises. The parade was inspected by Actg Commanding Officer SLAF Station Palavi Squadron Leader JMCR Jayasundara.
 
Coinciding to the Formation Day, a tree planting campaign was also conducted as part of the activity. Apart from this, celebrations continued with a cricket match with the participation of all base personnel . The celebrations culminated with an all rank’s lunch.



Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
