NO 30 DISASTER MANAGEMENT FIRST RESPONSE COURSE CONCLUDES AT MULLAITIVU

The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the No. 30 Disaster Management First Response Course was held at the main auditorium of Disaster Management Training Centre at SLAF Station Mullaitivu yesterday (12 June 2021).
The Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Mullaitivu, Group Captain ADR Liyanaarachchige graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Commanding Officers of formations, limited Officers and Other ranks of the Station were also present for the ceremony due to the COVID-19 health restrictions of the country.
The twenty nine (29) day long training programme was focused on introduction of disaster and Hazard profiles, Disaster Management Council Act and Role of the Disaster Management Centre, overview of Disaster Risk Reduction (DDR), Hazard and Vulnerability Assessment and Humanitarian assistance in Disaster Management, Disaster Preparedness Plans, conducting of Awareness Programmes, Civil Law pertaining to emergency response, Emergency Operation Center (EOC), Contingency Plans and Standard Operation Procedures (CP & SOPs), First Aid, Casualties and Death Management, Fire and Rescue. There were three (03) Officers and thirty nine (39) Other Rankers all together forty two (42) trainees received their certificates during the occasion. The training course was conducted at Disaster Management Training Center Mullaitivu under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander SDDJ Ranasinghe. The trophies for the Best Disaster Manager and Best Presenter of the course were awarded to Lieutenant KPN Kumara (SL Navy) and Air Craftsman Hiththaragedara HSD respectively.
