The Directorate of performing Arts at SLAF Base Katunayake, celebrated its 51st anniversary on 01 July 2021. The Directorate which was initially established as the Air Force Ceremonial Band in the year 1970, was to fulfill the musical requirements of ceremonial parades and throughout its life span, the Directorate has developed their own entertainment elements such as the Oriental Orchestra, Beat Group, Rock Band, Calypso Band, DJs and also the traditional and non-traditional dancing troops.

The event was marked by offering a Bodi Pooja at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya with the participation of a cross section of the Directorate owing to the prevailing COVID 19 restrictions.

This event was organized by service personnel of the Directorate under the guidance of the present Director Performing Arts, Group Captain AN Wijesiriwardena.
